About HASTELLOY B ROD

AHASTELLOY B rodisa solid solution-strengthened, nickel-molybdenum alloy rod that provides excellent resistance to reducing environments, such ashydrochloric acid,sulfuric acid, andhydrogen chloride gas. It is designed for demanding chemical processing and petrochemical applications where corrosion resistance is critical. These rods maintain high strength and are suitable for use in the "as-welded" condition because they resist the formation of grain-boundary precipitates in the heat-affected zone after welding.

Key characteristics

Composition: A nickel-molybdenum alloy (often identified as UNS N10665).

Corrosion resistance: Extremely resistant to non-oxidizing acids like hydrochloric, sulfuric, and acetic, and also resistant to hydrogen chloride gas.

Welding performance: Resists grain-boundary precipitation in the weld's heat-affected zone, making it suitable for use in the "as-welded" condition.

Mechanical properties: Possesses high tensile and yield strength, with good resistance tostress corrosion crackingandpitting.

Applications: Widely used in chemical processing, petrochemicals, vacuum furnaces, and other environments that involve corrosive reducing media.

Limitations: It has poor resistance to oxidizing environments and should not be used with ferric or cupric salts.
