About
Inconel 825 pipes are made from a nickel-based alloy with iron, chromium, molybdenum, copper, and titanium, offering excellent resistance to corrosion in various environments. They are highly resistant to oxidizing and reducing acids, stress-corrosion cracking, pitting, and crevice corrosion. Due to their strength at both moderate and elevated temperatures and resistance to a wide range of corrosive media, they are used in demanding applications like chemical processing, oil and gas recovery, and nuclear fuel reprocessing.
Key characteristics
- Corrosion resistance: Excellent resistance to many acids (sulfuric, phosphoric, nitric) and chloride-ion stress-corrosion cracking.
- Mechanical properties: Good strength and ductility at both room and moderately high temperatures.
- Chemical composition: A nickel-based alloy (3846%nickel) with additions of iron, chromium, molybdenum, copper, and titanium.
- Fabrication: The addition of titanium provides stability and resistance to intergranular corrosion after welding.
