Description and properties

Composition: A ferritic stainless steel containing 16.018.0% chromium and a maximum of 0.12% carbon, 1.00% manganese, 0.040% phosphorus, 0.030% sulfur, 1.00% silicon, and 0.75% nickel.
Corrosion resistance: Offers excellent resistance to atmospheric oxidation, strong oxidizing solutions, and nitric acid, with good resistance to stress corrosion cracking.
Formability: Easily drawn and formed, making it suitable for complex geometries.
Mechanical properties: It is magnetic and does not respond to heat treatment. It has a minimum yield strength of up to 260MPa and a minimum tensile strength of up to 600MPa.
Welding: Can be welded using common techniques, but pre-heating is recommended before welding, and post-weld annealing may be needed for added strength in certain cases.
